Miles couldn't believe his eyes when he saw that Leonie was waiting patiently outside Anana's place. He knew that if it were him, he would have bolted off as soon as he'd finished talking with Anana. He wouldn't have waited around for that stupid Skitty!

"So," she asked cheerfully, "how'd it go?"

". . .Fine, I guess. I just. . .I hope it's good enough for Chex." Leonie got up to lead the way, and Miles unconsciously fell into step alongside her.

"How much?"

"Twice the original pay. . .but it's less than what Chex wanted."

"Don't worry. I'm sure you did your best." But Leonie, being Leonie, of course couldn't stop there. She glanced over at Miles, looking somewhat smug. "Of course, it's less than what I could have done."

Miles snorted and narrowed his eyes at her. "Did I ever tell you how much I flaming hate you?"

She winced ever so slightly. "Yep," she said, glancing away, "and so I hope you won't hate me too much more for. . .this."

Miles froze instantly.

/WATER!/

His mouth went dry. His legs began to tremble. He felt himself go sweaty. Even his tail reacted to the horrible sight, shooting straight up in the air behind him. All the while Leonie just sat there, staring calmly out over the gentle waves.
